Lets go through the Katie Taylor result, round by round coverage and full fight report from her professional boxing debut tonight in London.
The Katie Taylor result went the way she wanted and the way the female boxing star’s fans around the world wanted in her professional debut.
After dominating female amateur boxing for nearly a decade, Taylor needed to look impressive in the beginning of her bid to take female pro boxing to a new level – with her new promoter Eddie Hearn and TV broadcaster Sky Sports.
A lot of hype and pressure was on Taylor to perform, with talks in the build-up also surrounding how her handlers were looking to make her in female pro boxing into what Ronda Rousey was in MMA in the UFC.
Promoter Eddie Hearn even said in the build-up if the opportunity arose down the road that Taylor would consider a fight with Rousey here.
With all the pre-fight chatter and hype out of the way, Katie Taylor delivered in bucket fulls.
Making her professional debut in the women’s super-featherweight division, the boxing pride of Ireland started fast against Polish opponent Karina Kopinska in a scheduled 6 x 2 minute rounds professional bout.
Straight away Taylor backed up Kopinska onto the ropes in round one. The Polish female fighter looked to cover up as Taylor showed excellent hand and foot speed in the opening two minutes, as well as going to the body well at one point.
Taylor’s patient approach turned into a ferocious flurry of output in round 2 – peppering her opponent on the ropes with blistering combinations at the beginning of the second round.
She worked well to the head and body. A very strong round for Taylor who looked a league above her opponent with her razor sharpness evident for all to see.
After bloodying the nose of Kopinska in round 3 Taylor poured on a massive onslaught of fury to the head and body which gave the referee no choice but to stop the fight.
A very exciting debut from Katie Taylor, who proved she can fight with both technique and ferocity as a professional boxer tonight – while under extreme pressure.
A genuinely awesome display overall.
Taylor is next scheduled to have her second professional fight in Manchester on December 10th where she will appear on the undercard of IBF heavyweight champion of the world Anthony Joshua.
