The Walters vs Lomachenko odds make for interesting viewing in a number of betting markets ahead of their WBO world super-featherweight title showdown at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.
In many ways the Walters vs Lomachenko odds for me don’t exactly reflect the competitive nature of the fight.
They tend to quite healthily favor Ukraine champion Vasyl Lomachenko for the most part. But the fight could very easily play out a close affair if he’s not firing on all cylinders.

Some forget that Jamaican title challenger Nicholas Walters is a multi-weight world champion in the past himself. He comes into the fight the undefeated fighter with considerably more professional boxing experience.
The amateur pedigree and amateur experience however is heavily in favor of Lomachenko.
Since his only loss of his pro career (6-1-4KO) to Orlando Salido back in 2014 Lomachenko has looked every bit of the pound for pound rated star many have him tipped as since that defeat.
He comes into the fight following a blistering stoppage of Roman Martinez in his last outing. Here’s what you are looking at for him to win outright if you are thinking of placing a bet on the fight:

I’m surprised that Lomachenko is such a favorite to be honest. Don’t get me wrong, the man is a genius in the ring and moves as well in the squared circle as probably anybody in the sport does at the moment.
But I just feel like the bookies are underestimating Walters a tad here. His fans and supporters will be enthused by the opportunity to back their man to win the fight outright for as high as 5/1.

But as is usually the case in pro boxing, the value for those looking for a real ‘flutter’ or ‘punt’ tends to be in the method of victory methods. As pertaining to either fighter winning on points or inside the distance.
Here is what you would get for the above on both guys:

Walters’ big right hand to some of his fans might represent value above at 7/1 to spring a surprise stoppage win.
However the smart money and likely bet by most fight fans will be Lomachenko on points either outright or as part of a double or parlay bet.
