Ireland’s Golden girl Katie Taylor next fight opponent, date and venue made official today for her 2nd professional boxing match.
Taylor is fresh off a win on her debut in London’s Wembley Arena.
She took apart her Polish opponent in scintillating fashion to score an early TKO victory (full fight report available here).
Her next fight will come on December 10th at the Manchester Arena on IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua’s undercard.
The Katie Taylor next fight opponent will be Switzerland based Brazilian boxer Viviane Obenauf.
Taylor impressed in her first victory and she is looking to be the driving force behind the growth of female professional boxing around the world over the coming years.
Interestingly, after her pro debut win her promoter from the UK Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport spoke of how they plan on bringing her around the world in many different big cities to promote her.
This is a clear sign of intent in my opinion that they believe in female boxing as a product, and obviously that they believe in Katie Taylor as a brand in her own right.
By the looks of things the plan is to bring Taylor back to her native Ireland when she is ready to fight for a world title down the line and headline a significant show in the Emerald Isle.
Ireland awaits, but so does the world of boxing.
