Ahead of the Parker v Ruiz WBO heavyweight title fight in New Zealand on December 10th an intriguing short documentary has been brought out before hand.
One element of this Parker v Ruiz documentary I enjoyed early on was how it pointed to the national significance of the fight firstly taking place in the country of New Zealand, but also how it pointed out that no New Zealander or Mexican has ever won a version of the heavyweight title in professional boxing history.
This weekend accordingly will be historic for both Mexican Ruiz Jr or New Zealander Parker and the first of a few things for them, including one of the undefeated young heavyweights will also taste their first defeat as a pro.

It really promises to be a fantastic fight and it’s great to see New Zealand land such a significant fight in the boxing world.
Who wins? It’s a tough call.
But as they say, someone’s ‘O’ has got to go on Saturday night in Parker v Ruiz.
Ahead of the fight here are the two men recounting an old sparring session between each other in the US when both were just starting out in the pro ranks – with Ruiz Jr perhaps having a bit more experience than Parker at that particular time.
