All good things must come to an end as they say and this weekend Bernard Hopkins’ legendary career is set for the final curtain. Ahead of the fight, we break down the Bernard Hopkins vs Joe Smith odds if you are thinking of placing a bet.
Bernard Hopkins vs Joe Smith Odds
It’s a fight that his close friend and promoter Oscar De La Hoya admittedly said would not have been his first choice for Hopkins’ last opponent, given the power and youth of Joe Smith Jr.
But in true Bernard Hopkins fashion, he’s never been one to take an easy fight and has trained accordingly:

If you are thinking of a bet on the fight this weekend here’s what you are looking at for either guy to win outright:
As you can see, the bookmakers have it a very even fight indeed.
Despite 51 year old Hopkins possessing the far superior credentials and skills he is now nearly 52 years of age, and Smith Jr represents a big hitting, dangerous young fighter in the opposing corner.
The New York man’s travelling supporters will no doubt be buoyed by the above numbers in backing him.
But more interestingly, as is usually the case in boxing bets, the method of victory markets offer some more value and interest:
Some looking at an outside bet might look for a flutter on Smith to pull off the upset by KO or on points, particularly if they think BHop has finally bitten off more than he can chew in terms of prolonging his career.
The smart money is on a Hopkins win on points however to close out one of boxing’s most unique and memorable professional tenures.
