Confirmed: Golovkin v Jacobs March 18th At Madison Square Garden

Golovkin v Jacobs is on.

After months of negotiation and speculation the Golovkin v Jacobs fight has been officially made today and will take place on St. Patrick’s Day weekend in New York next year.

It is unclear if the show will be the same one that Irishman Michael Conlan of Top Rank will be on, as it is also anticipated on that date that Conlan will make his pro debut at the very same venue.

News of the Golovkin v Jacobs fight was confirmed by Gennady Golovkin himself on his Twitter feed today:

It’s official, I’m fighting Danny Jacobs on March 18 at MSG @thegarden NY on HBO ppv, see you there! pic.twitter.com/hljRlnh0LS

An excellent fight that will see Golovkin take on the number one middleweight in the world before hopefully then facing Canelo Alvarez next September, provided the Mexican boxing star can also keep winning.

In many people’s opinion Danny Jacobs represents Golovkin’s toughest test to date and the WBA middleweight champion won’t be in the mood to give up his title in front of his hometown New York fans.
