Tonight legendary warrior Bernard Hopkins will make his final appearance in the boxing ring and one of his most recent rivals has had words of encouragement for him.
Sergey Kovalev defeated Hopkins back in 2014 via a one sided unanimous decision that surprised many at the time, in terms of the way he was able to out box Hopkins technically in the fight.
It was a bad beating in the end that took all of Hopkins’ considerable ring craft and toughness to last the twelve rounds in a fight that others no doubt would have been stopped in.
Speaking ahead of Hopkins’ final fight tonight against Joe Smith Jr, Sergey Kovalev had this to say on his Instagram account about his old rival:
