A showdown between WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker vs Hughie Fury is expected to take place in April of next year.
Previously undefeated heavyweight Fury had been linked with a fight against Andy Ruiz Jr in recent months, but following Parker defeating Ruiz Jr for the WBO title in Auckland earlier this year, a Joseph Parker vs Hughie Fury fight is now the one in the works according to Gareth Davies of The Telegraph.
This adds yet another exciting young heavyweight into the world heavyweight title scene following the recent fight with Ruiz Jr and Parker, that also saw the coming together of two of the world’s leading young undefeated heavyweights – with Parker just getting the decision on the night (majority decision).
Parker (22-0-18KO) won the belt in his native New Zealand but it is unclear as of yet if will he make his first defense at home, or whether or not he will travel to the UK or USA over the coming few fights ahead.
Hughie Fury (20-10KO) is understood to be in training throughout Christmas and the cousin of Tyson Fury will no doubt be chomping at the bit ahead of his first world title fight in the new year – still aged only 22 years old.
