Golovkin on Why Canelo Today For Him Is ‘Nothing’

Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez is probably the fight that boxing fans want to see most out of any in 2017, but in reality, it is starting to look like one of those fights that could take years to make like the long drawn out Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao process in the past.

The difference is though, Canelo and Golovkin would be one hell of a fight.

Totally different from a fight style perspective to Mayweather vs Pacquiao.

That’s what makes it so frustrating.

Speaking this week in LA, Golovkin didn’t have too much to say about Canelo in a positive light, and had his mind well and truly focused on his upcoming fight with Danny Jacobs:

Today he is nothing because we are talking like last year too much. About business. I don’t know, for personality who is Canelo? I know who is Canelo. He is talking too much. After every fight he is saying: ‘I am ready, give me gloves, I call you tomorrow.’ If you want fight just call me! Not talk, not trash. Today I have deal with Daniel (Jacobs). I don’t have idea with Canelo. Today for me Canelo is nothing.

Breakfast Club

Strong words from ‘GGG’, but words that will likely frustrate many a fight fan out there who want to see the fight.

If both he and Canelo win their next respective match ups however, one would imagine public demand will be simply too much for this fight to not take place later this year at some point.
