For fans of the welterweight division and boxing period, a Khan Brook fight would be a fun one – but it’s always seemed to alluded fans over the years.
This frustration is starting to look like it could run on now.
The fight has come to light once again mainly since the start of 2017 but recent reports suggest things are not going well in negotiations.
Amplify this with Amir Khan recently shaking up his management team (including the dismissal of his father), not being able to box around Ramadan in August, realistically, there is a limited time window when the fight could be realistically made this year.
It is thought that Khan already has plans for late in the year so for the fight if it were to happen at all in 2017 most likely it has to happen this summer.
That’s where things get tricky now.
Mitch Abramson of Ring Magazine has reported that Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn has said his charge is likely to face mandatory contender Errol Spence Jr next up – with purse bids coming up soon for the IBF 147lbs title.
That adds another blow to the chances of a Khan Brook fight happening in the summer.
One would think.
It’s one of those incredibly frustrating situations where both fighters seem to want the fight, as do the fans, but it could yet again slip under the radar this year.
