Chris Eubank Sr on Jr next match following capturing the IBO super-middleweight world title over Renold Quinlan on ITV Box Office.
A fight between James DeGale and Chris Eubank junior at 168lbs is one that would definitely get some interest going.
A clash of styles between the classical boxer vs pressure fighter, in a sense.
DeGale recently drew with Badou Jack in a closely fought battle .
It appears that both Eubank senior and junior want him in the ring more than any other opponent next up.
Speaking in the post-fight press conference of the Renold Quinlan fight in the UK – Eubank Sr on Jr next fight:
“This has to be said now. I sent out a message to Badou Jack and James DeGale and I asked them to choose which one of them will fight junior once he wins this (IBO) championship. I told them to hurry up because if they don’t choose, I’m going to choose for them. And they have not actually got back to me and so, we are choosing James DeGale.”
On the Olympic Gold medallist, Chris junior noted:
“I’ve said it from day one. I sparred with the guy many years ago back before I was a pro and I dealt with him in that ring. I know what he is and I know what I can do to him. That’s a fight the public want to see and now we have the platform (ITV). So lets do it.”
Eubank senior mentioned that he wants his son to be out again and box this April.
Whether James DeGale could be ready for such a fight in that time frame remains to be seen.
