Some concern existed very late last night that the Hughie Fury vs Joseph Parker WBO heavyweight title might not go ahead next up.
This concern came after the WBO president laid out a deadline for team Fury to sign the official fight contract by 12pm today (UK time).
The WBO president mentioned that if the contract wasn’t signed by this time, than the WBO (World Boxing Organization) would consider a request from team Parker to grant him a voluntary defence next up – rather than facing Fury.
However calmer heads have prevailed and promoter Frank Warren broke the news on Twitter today that the Hughie Fury vs Joseph Parker contract is over the line:
Good news for fight fans wanting to see this intriguing heavyweight title fight between two of the new heavyweight generation’s young stars.
Two undefeated records where someone’s ‘0’ has got to go.
It will be the biggest test of Hughie Fury’s career to date, but one his father and trainer Peter says the 22 year old can rise to in style.
Previously it has been reported that April 1st in New Zealand as the date and location for the bout but expect a full announcement in the coming days.
