The Luke Campbell vs Lopez boxing results are in tonight in the co-main event of tonight’s TV boxing action in the UK.
Luke ‘Cool Hand’ Campbell and his trainer Jorge Rubio marched confidently towards the ring as Campbell prepared to defend his WBC silver title tonight against Mexican Jairo Lopez.
2012 Olympic Gold Medallist Campbell has been on a steady but impressive return to form since the first defeat of his career in December 2015, and continued in this rich vein of performances again tonight.
He was expected to get the win tonight and started off in vicious fashion, hurting Lopez straight away in round one with lightning counters.
Lopez was all over the place in round one, bravely trying to fight back but was going on pure instinct it seemed.
The pressure was overwhelming for Lopez and forced him to go down.
He got back to his feet but the timing of Campbell was totally on point and Lopez ate another thumping left hand for his troubles.
Lopez managed to survive the end of the round however – doing very well to stay in the fight after a torrid opening three minutes.
Campbell’s accuracy again was evident in round two. But so was his power this time.
A devastating left uppercut sent Lopez crashing to the canvas and prompted the referee to wave off the fight.
A beautifully explosive punch straight down the middle. Campbell walked him onto it expertly.
The win improved Campbell’s record as a pro to 16-1-13KO.
No doubt the win also progressed him well in the WBC lightweight division rankings, with their Silver title on the line tonight.
