Lee Selby scored a TKO win tonight on the David Haye vs Tony Bellew undercard to keep his world title fight hopes open as 2017 progresses.
The ‘Welsh Mayweather’ has all the skills when on form to give any of the top 126lbs champions a run for their money and then some, but will he get the big fights that he so craves?
It was the first time Selby had boxed since April of 2016, after an unfortunate pull out by a previous opponent back in January on the Carl Frampton vs Leo Santa Cruz bill in Las Vegas.
While Selby was not perhaps at his best tonight, he still did the job and closed the show inside the distance.
No doubt he’ll be using this as a ring rust shaker tonight as bigger things await in 2017:

Some nice solid straight right hands and a left to the body to finish proceedings above.
Straight after the fight Selby spoke of his respect for former featherweight world champion Carl Frampton but despite the mutual respect, wants to get the fight on for the fans.
What a cracker it would be.
Frampton coming off the defeat to Mexican Santa Cruz in January, if he can’t get the rematch he craves perhaps a world title shot against Selby would be an excellent alternative.
