Boxer David Haye released from medical care following his heavyweight pay per view fight with Tony ‘Bomber’ Bellew at London’s O2 Arena.
Throughout the build-up to the fight in the UK, Haye had made promises to be the one sending Bellew to the hospital after the fight.
However following the bout it has been revealed that Haye needed to go to hospital himself after suffering an injury to his Achilles.
There were rumblings that the injury was lingering there all throughout fight week and it appeared to have come to the surface inevitably in the fight.
It is understood that the injury was sustained in round 6, but to Haye’s credit he showed massive heart to fight on despite been essentially on one leg until round 11 when the end came here.
Sky Sports have reported that surgery was not needed on the injury for Haye but it is unclear whether or not he will box again anytime soon.
It looked like a painful injury though. Haye showed more heart than perhaps some fans gave him credit for before the fight.
After the fight there was a great show of mutual respect here by both men, as they embraced in a joint interview following months of hype and verbal abuse.
No doubt both boxers got well paid for last night – judging from the massive interest online at least.
