Some incredible footage has emerged online today following last night’s heavyweight fight in London between Tony Bellew and David Haye, involving the latter’s coach Shane McGuigan appearing to punch a fan in the crowd.
Haye ultimately lost the fight after McGuigan (son of boxing legend Barry McGuigan) had to throw the towel in during round 11 – after Haye suffered an injury to his Achilles.
It has since been confirmed that Haye was released from hospital this morning following treatment.
While Haye was leaving the ring distraught after the upset defeat last night, one fan managed to capture a video that has been slowed down to the extent that if you look in the background, it appears McGuigan lashes out at a fan with a punch while exiting the arena:
There is no indication as to what happened to lead up to this incident, or what really caused it.
Obviously tensions would have been high and from listening to the heckles Haye received on his way out of the ring last night so far, some of them were very nasty indeed.
McGuigan in a short space of time has built up a stellar reputation in the sport of boxing as being a top coach, having trained Carl Frampton to world titles in multiple weight categories in recent times.
He comes from a proud boxing family being the son of one of Ireland’s greatest ever sportsmen, Barry McGuigan.
