Brother of fellow undefeated professional Khalid Yafai – Gamal Yafai put on a solid display tonight while boxing away from home early on in his career.
Gamal Yafai won a unanimous points decision tonight in Germany and improved his pro boxing record to 11-0 (4KO).
Fighting Georgian Khvicha Gigolashvili, Yafai seemed a bit tense in the opening rounds and almost appeared like he was trying to force the issue a bit too much.
As the bout progressed Yafai looked to settle down into his work a bit. He worked well on the front foot in the mid rounds behind a solid jab.
He showed nice variety in round 5 of the 6 round super-bantamweight bout, perhaps going a little head hunting happy however.
BOXING NEWS: Gamal Yafai Wins In Birmingham Via 7th Round
Yafai used some decent angles and footwork in the final round. A very tidy performance from an all round decent prospect in most departments, by the looks of things.
A great learning fight overall for Gamal Yafai. The 25 year old from Birmingham will learn a lot from this both in terms of the workout he got tonight, and the fact he got his first away from home win as a pro.
Job done for him.
Gigolashvili was a tough operator to his credit. The loss moved his record back to 14-18-3KO.
