UFC President Dana White is now saying that he won’t stand in Conor’s way of making a Mayweather vs McGregor boxing match. A considerable change in his tune from a few weeks ago, heck, a few days ago even.
Not long ago the UFC boss said that Conor McGregor couldn’t do the fight without the UFC and that if he tried to do so it would be a “spectacular fall.”
He also said the chances of a Mayweather vs McGregor boxing match happening in 2017 were comparable to him lining out for the Patriots instead of Tom Brady at the Super Bowl.
Well, this is the fight business. A nutty, unpredictable, money driven professional sport. Things change. In the blink of an eye.
In recent days White had shot down rumors of a June 10th date being booked at the T-Mobile Arena for a Mayweather vs McGregor boxing match.
Well, now he is saying that it wasn’t “us” who booked it – meaning the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). That leaves the question who exactly has the venue on hold for June 10th?
Mayweather’s people? Perhaps.
It is starting to become clear that Mayweather is in control of this negotiation. If the fight happens. Whichever way it plays out McGregor will still make by far the most money of his entire career mind you.
