Sergey Kovalev brands his rival and the man who took his unbeaten record with some choice words.
It’s understandable to a degree that Kovalev is still bitter and frustrated at the result of his fight with Andre Ward in 2016.
Most people in the world of boxing did seem to think he deserved to win the contest on the night. But alas, it wasn’t meant to be, as Ward got the split decision victory in the end.
However there seems to be some good news for him in the form of a chance of revenge. It’s been reported tonight that the rematch is close to getting signed for this June.
Kovalev is a man who likes to speak his mind and since the defeat he’s been vocal in his opinion of the outcome and also of wanting the rematch.
Well, it looks like he’s about to get what he wants. As is the world of boxing after what was in fairness was a rather unsatisfactory ending first time round it must be said.
Everyone likes to see a clear outcome in a fight. A clear winner – with no disputes or controversy. But that’s why the second match should be a lot, lot bigger than the first.
More will be interested this time.
Kovalev this week has been getting some ‘things’ shall we say about off his chest about his rival. Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV Sergey Kovalev brands Ward a few choice words here:
