The first Kell Brook vs Spence face off took place today in the UK as the two men met for the first time ahead of their fight May.
The fight was formally announced today for May 27th at Bramall Lane soccer stadium in the UK in an outdoor IBF welterweight world title event.
It’s already got most serious boxing fans’ attention due to the sheer competitive nature of the fight.
No bluff, no hype, no nothing of that nature needed. Just two world class welterweights in their primes duking it out to see who’s best.
In many ways it is what the welterweight division should be all about.
2017 has shown so far that these types of fight at 147lbs are more than capable of getting made too – with Keith Thurman vs Danny Garcia in New York earlier this month testament to that.
Since Floyd Mayweather retired in 2015 we are now coming into what appears to be the next generation of top welterweights.
A division that traditionally has always been strong in the sport.
But who will emerge as top dog? Many feel Errol Spence Jr will, but he has a considerable challenge in front of him in Kell Brook this summer.
It will be the biggest puncher he’s ever faced and all round, by far the best fighter he’s taken on.
Brook will be chomping at the bit to get back to winning ways since suffering defeat to Gennady Golovkin last time out in September too.
Here’s the first Brook vs Spence face off today in England where the two fighters exchanged some early verbals:
