Khan vs Pacquiao fight still on the agenda for 2017 for both fighters and their teams, despite recent collapse of a planned fight in April.
Back in February it was announced that a Khan vs Pacquiao ‘super fight’ would take place on April 23rd by Amir Khan himself on social media.
Fast forward to today, March 23rd, and that plan is quickly down the swanny.
Khan is now looking for a new opponent and after speaking with his adviser Al Haymon this week he has now said he expects an April or May return.
But not against Manny Pacquiao just yet.
However, Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank has intimated that the fight Khan vs Pacquiao fight is being planned for later in the year.
Speaking to ABS-CBN Arum said:
“Hopefully, that fight can happen in November.”
The April announcement at the time by Khan did seem a little premature back in February.
Particularly considering the international fan base of both fighters and the time in promotion alone that it would take to build up such a bout.
November seems much more realistic and in the meantime Pacquiao will also be able to get another fight in himself.
Who that will be against though remains to be seen. Although it is thought Jeff Horn is a leader contender at the moment.
