WBO Lightweight Champion Terry Flanagan passes a witty jibe at Sky Sports Boxing following the Anthony Crolla vs Jorge Linares WBA and Ring Magazine lightweight world title fight.
We’ve written on here before how WBO Lightweight Champion Terry Flanagan is probably one of the most underestimated world champions currently in boxing.
His profile outside of hardcore boxing fans isn’t perhaps what it should be and after fellow Manchester boxer Anthony Crolla boxed on Sky Sports last night – Flanagan had this to say:
My name was like a swear word on sky last night ?? they all must get told what ever you do don’t mention terry flanagan

He has a bit of a point, to be fair.
Sky Sports Boxing who do an excellent job for the sport and have supported boxing for a number of years in the UK and Ireland, at the same time can be a bit biased to their own fighters at times.
Like any business, they look after their own first off. Understandable to an extent but boxing fans would prefer them to be more balanced where possible.
With Anthony Crolla losing a second time to the brilliant Jorge Linares, perhaps an all Manchester showdown between Flanagan and Crolla might now make more sense than ever.
Crolla is promoted by Eddie Hearn who has an exclusive contract with Sky Sports, while Flanagan is promoted by rival promoter Frank Warren who broadcasts his fighters on BoxNation and BT Sports.
The issue of getting the fight on will no doubt come down to the two men above being able to work with, or not willing to work with one another.
What a fight it would be do – with the timing for it now seemingly spot on.
