The main TV event in US boxing last night was between Leduan Barthelemy vs Reynaldo Blanco.
In the mid week Premier Boxing Champions card in the States this week on Fox Sports 1 undefeated Cuban Leduan Barthelemy topped the bill in a super-featherweight showdown against Puerto Rican Reynaldo Blanco.
Some fight fans will associate one of the fighter’s second name with another professional boxer, a two-weight world champion no less who happen to be his brother – Rances Barthelemy.
Leduan Barthelemy extended his unbeaten record to 13-0 (7KO) with a 9th round TKO victory in California last night and is fast on the tracks of his brother’s career success in the sport.
He used his better reach and speed early on to good effect against Blanco, who to his credit, had own his moments with one right hand in particular in the third grabbing Barthelemy’s attention.
Blanco proved to be a tough competitor in the mid rounds but it was the Barthelemy jab that proved to be key. He was able to set up a lot of his offensive work off the punch and dictate much of the action because of it.
He opened a cut on Blanco as the fight wore on but round 9 was to prove to be the beginning of the end for Blanco.
Here’s the key moments in Leduan Barthelemy vs Reynaldo Blanco and how the fight ultimately came to a sharp end last night:
