Sergey ‘Krusher’ Kovalev has a cold message for Andre Ward as the two begin preparations for their rematch this summer in Las Vegas.
Kovalev’s dislike of Ward has perhaps become more apparent than ever in recent months.
A real bitterness towards the decision going Ward’s way in their first fight has become evident with Kovalev consistently labelling Ward online as:
“Son of judges.”
A play in Ward’s nickname of ‘Son of God’ for those not familiar. Kovalev has been consistent in his wanting of the rematch and now he’s got his wish this week.
He’s sent Ward this short but to the point message online too.
Ward had been quoted at the beginning of the year around possibly considering retirement from the sport of boxing but an obvious u-turn on that has now occurred.
If it indeed was something genuinely on his mind.
Kovalev really doesn’t like to mince his words, as the above message conveys, but it will be interesting to see how Andre deals with some of the build-up jibes from his Russian counterpart this time around.
I’d expect Kovalev to make this a consistent theme in the run up to this summer’s rematch in a bid to possibly rattle Ward, and gather up support from those who thought he should have got the decision first time around.
Whatever you think of either guy, or what happened in the first fight, there is no denying that boxing fans will be tuning in to see what happens this summer given the controversy of the decision in their first fight.
