Adonis Stevenson next fight officially confirmed but it won’t be against another champion at light-heavyweight. Or one of the big names. Will ‘Superman’ ever face some of the fighters fans want to see him in with?
First off, let me premise this article by saying it is not in any way meant to discredit Adonis Stevenson’s achievements or ability.
Both are impressive, to be fair. He’s a fighter I’ve always enjoyed watching too for his unorthodox style and incredible punching ability.
Who’ll ever forget that brutal lesson he gave the UK’s Tony Bellew a couple of years back.

Having said that, I, like a lot of fans and journalists I’m sure, would like to see the WBC 175lbs champion in there with one of the top dogs in the division at this stage.
It’s not going to be happening in the immediate future however – as Stevenson confirmed the Fonfara rematch next up this past weekend:

Indeed, fellow light-heavyweight top dogs Sergey Kovalev and Andre Ward will also rematch this summer, but to really find out who is the very best at light-heavyweight at long last – one would hope that Stevenson can take on the winner.
Since winning the belt by KO back in 2013 over Chad Dawson WBC champion Stevenson has made seven successful defences of the strap thus far.
