Earlier today the boxing world was taken off guard by the news that with only two weeks to go to the scheduled WBO heavyweight title fight involving Joseph Parker vs Hughie Fury, that the bout would not go ahead on the expected date.
A statement from Parker’s promoter here explained that it was off due to an injury sustained by Hughie Fury at late notice.

Now team Fury have come out with an statement themselves via promoters Hennessy Sports on their official website which reads the following:
Bad news for all concerned and of course most for Hughie Fury.
Sustaining a back injury and having his world title shot snatched away from him this close to the fight must be crushing.
Good news in the sense though that the injury is not too severe and will only keep him out 3-4 weeks, and that the fight is postponed not cancelled all together as previously thought.
Perhaps the bout will simply just be put back a couple of months or so to some time in the summer. It was scheduled to take place in Auckland, New Zealand on May 6th previously.
Most likely one would think when the fight does happen at the new date it will happen again in New Zealand.
