As Canelo vs Chavez approaches lets watch back the classic that was the Chavez vs Lee full fight in Texas where all hell broke loose.

Chavez vs Lee took place back in 2012 in El Paso, Texas in what turned out to be a real toe to toe battle between Mexican Julio Chavez Jr and Irishman Andy Lee.

Two countries renowned for their fighting warriors – this fight didn’t disappoint.

Canelo Alvarez takes on Chavez Jr in all Mexican battle this weekend in Las Vegas on Cinco De Mayo, and no doubt will be looking back over this Andy Lee fight.

The Irishman had his moments in the fight early on, no doubt about it.

Training under the legendary Emmanuel Steward he was well prepared for what Chavez Jr brought early on. Chavez was trained under Hall of Fame coach Freddie Roach on the night.

Lee from his southpaw stance looked to keep it on the outside for the most part, but the relentless Chavez Jr kept coming forward all night at him.

The strength of Chavez Jr ultimately proved too much by the point of round 7 – as he closed the show with an overwhelming display of power punching.

An excellent fight all round.

Many feel that Canelo will have the boxing ability to deal with the size and strength of Chavez Jr this weekend in Las Vegas.

Time will tell though.
