A Joshua Klitschko rematch could very well be just around the corner as the former champion drops a subtle hint.
A Joshua Klitschko rematch no doubt would sell and drum up considerable interest after their classic first fight last month in Wembley.
It was a heavyweight title fight for the ages that had knockdowns galore and ultimately ended with the UK’s Anthony Joshua getting his hand raised.
After the fight some have wondered will the Joshua Klitschko rematch take place at all however, largely due to Klitschko’s choice in wanting it or not.
He has the option of course, contractually.
From an athletic perspective he showed that he has plenty left at 41 against Joshua – in a fight that at points looked like Klitschko was within touching distance of winning.
Considering he was coming off an 18 month layoff too, it was a pretty impressive performance from Klitschko all in all to be fair.
The former long reining champion has given an ever so subtle hint that a Joshua Klitschko rematch could happen with his re-tweet of the following statement:
There is no denying that Klitschko is one of the most ultra competitive fighters out there – always motivated by new challenges.
This could be the key reason behind him activating the rematch clause as he’s just one fight away from equalling the great Joe Louis’s record above.
It is understood that a decision on whether a Joshua Klitschko rematch will happen or not will be made in June by the latest.
As for Anthony Joshua, he has already intimated his interest in other fights too.
