GGG starts out as a favorite with the bookmakers ahead of his highly anticipated middleweight title fight with Canelo.
GGG and Canelo will begin their initial fight preparations in the coming weeks ahead of their September 16th showdown.
It’s a fight that has captured boxing fans imaginations and has got people talking all week since it’s initial announcement last weekend.
According to Oddschecker.com – GGG starts out as a favorite in the fight for the most part across the different range of sports books out there:
It’s relatively close though as you can see.
Golovkin is being given the edge however and Alvarez fans no doubt will be looking at the above as a chance to back their man with good value as an underdog for once.
Stylistically it could be an interesting one in the beginning, perhaps more so a tactical battle early on. Having said that both guys are more than capable of turning it into a shootout too.
If the latter were to happen, the question will be who can stand up to who’s fire power the best?
Golovkin as a proven middleweight with ferocious knockout power and an almost iron chin has shown thus far he’s capable of dishing it out and receiving punishment pretty much better than anyone at the weight.
Canelo is still relatively unproven as a fully fledged 160lbs fighter, so perhaps that is why the bookies are leaning towards Golovkin slightly at the moment.
