Anthony Joshua asks Mayweather a favor regarding his proposed upcoming boxing match with UFC star Conor McGregor.
All eyes are currently on who Anthony Joshua’s next opponent will be after the UK man’s sensational win over Wladimir Klitschko last month at Wembley stadium.
Heavyweight title unification bouts with the other champions in (WBO) Joseph Parker and (WBC) Deontay Wilder have been mooted, as has the Klitschko rematch – but when and where has not been something talked about much for the most part for Joshua’s next outing.
Mayweather vs McGregor is widely expected to be a Las Vegas event if confirmed in the coming days and perhaps could act as a huge platform for Joshua to expose himself to the American public if he were to box on the show, if it gets announced.
Recently in the UK Joshua chuckled to Mayweather when they met for the first time:
“Get me on the undercard.”
Even though it looked like he was joking, Joshua is no fool. Nor are the people around him. Make no mistake about that. He knows the type of exposure he could get from such an event would be beneficial.
Imagine how big interest-wise a Mayweather vs McGregor event would be with the heavyweight champion of the world on it?
You could be talking one of the very biggest sports events in history, realistically.
Joshua is already a massive star in the world of boxing and would add a legitimate boxing aspect to proposed the Mayweather vs McGregor carnival, which despite it’s naysayers, will without doubt draw in viewers who would not normally watch the sport of boxing in the first place.
It wouldn’t surprise this writer of Joshua wanted a piece of that.
