Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach not enthusiastic about what he’s seen from his charge Manny Pacquiao in the run up to his latest fight.
It is understood that Senator Manny Pacquiao is winding down his boxing career at the moment.
It’s fair to say he isn’t what he once was, but still, what he demonstrated only last November over Jessie Vargas is most likely probably enough to compete with some of the best welterweights in the world.
Pacquiao has a lot more on his mind than just boxing these days with his extensive political duties in his home country.
In much of the footage available online so far in the run to his next fight on July 2nd against Australian Jeff Horn it has been noticeable that his long time trainer Freddie Roach has not featured in much of it.
In cat he’s only just linked up with him in recent days ahead of the fight at the Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and speaking to Philstar he voiced his disgust at what he’s seen so far:
“His second day of sparring today is maybe the worst I’ve ever seen so far. His timing is really, really off.”
Indeed, this boxing writer was watching much of the coverage of Paquiao’s training thus far only the other day with a hugely respected trainer in the US who mentioned similar to Freddie above.
Perhaps the odds makers will be paying close attention to Roach’s comments above ahead of the fight on July 2nd.
