Tony Bellew reveals he could very well face one of the best pound for pound boxers on the face of the Earth today.
Not long ago both men were sharing a movie set on blockbuster ‘Creed’ depicting the fictional life of character Apollo Creed’s son in a film where Bellew ultimately played his main rival.
Ward’s part in the movie might not have been as big as Bellew’s, but when it comes to real life boxing – there’s no denying that Ward is ranked at the moment as the better fighter.

Following his stoppage win last weekend over Sergey Kovalev in their rematch, many now place the American on top of the pound for pound rankings in world boxing – or at least number two like we do at the moment.
Since Englishman Tony Bellew stunned the boxing world back in March to stop David Haye inside the distance in a heavyweight contest in London, opportunities have also been flowing his way at the moment.
The latest it appears is a possible showdown with Andre Ward. Speaking on the Metro, Bellew confirmed:
“Eddie Hearn (Bellew’s promoter) has spoken with representatives of Ward’s. We’ve had talks and we’re going to go from there.”
It would be interesting to see at what weight such a bout could occur it.
Would Bellew return to cruiserweight and defend his WBC title there against Ward or would it be a heavyweight contest?
Ward did say he was open to stepping up to heavyweight one day after his win against Kovalev in their rematch this past weekend.
Perhaps Bellew might seem like a bridging gap to do this for him in the short term.
Here’s a quick look back to when Andre Ward appeared in the same movie as Tony Bellew:
