The Conor McGregor team have responded to a recent story claiming their man had been knocked out in sparring in preparation for Mayweather.
The story originated from a top professional boxer called Jessie Vargas. A former WBO welterweight champion of the world no less, who only lost his title last year to Manny Pacquiao.
The rumors suggested that former world champion Brandon Rios had been the man to KO the Irishman in boxing sparring as he was getting ready for Floyd Mayweather recently.

This was quickly dismissed by various people the next day however, including Rios himself. Now the McGregor team have issued the following statement as per The Telegraph:
“The guy mentioned by Jessie Vargas is Brandon Rios, not Brad Wheeler. Neither have sparred with Conor.”
McGregor is understood to be getting ready to fly to Las Vegas soon where he will based himself for approximately one month before the fight on August 26th.
He’s done this in the past for his UFC fights where he likes to get used to the time difference and climate well in advance.
Former world champion turned commentator Paulie Malignaggi will be one of his chief sparring partners working with him when he arrives in the States.
