WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder reacts to Shannon Briggs failed drug test ahead of a world title fight earlier this summer.
Recently former heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs failed a VADA drugs test before a scheduled fight for the WBA ‘regular’ heavyweight title that was expected to take place last month in Florida.
ESPN writer Dan Rafael reported at the time that it was due to elevated testosterone levels.
Briggs now finds himself in limbo after the WBA earlier this week issued a 6 month ban to him and the ‘Lets Go Champ’ movement.

Fellow American heavyweight and current WBC heavyweight champion of the world Deontay Wilder reacted to the news on the Sweet Scientists by saying:
“I think Shannon is a good dude but just his approach as been an older guy – talk, talk, talk. I’m always saying if it works and it gets you to the top then do it. It worked for him.”
He added:
“Now he got busted with this. It went viral. Now it’s like everyone is talking about ‘Lets Dope Champ’. So where does it put him now? He’s 45.”
Wilder is currently looking for an opponent next up himself.
Speculation had existed that a potential fight with the UK’s Tony Bellew was on the cards after Wilder visited the UK earlier this year where he was commentating for Sky Sports on Joshua vs Klitschko in April.
A big showdown with Anthony Joshua in the UK is surely the one that fans on both sides of the pond want to see though.
