The Katie Taylor New York adventure is underway this week as Ireland’s favorite fighting woman hits Brooklyn.
Katie Taylor will fight in the ‘Big Apple’ this weekend against an opponent to be confirmed on the undercard of Mikey Garcia vs Adrien Broner at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn.
Taylor should not be short on support in New York mind you.
The large Irish population in the city proved in recent times for Michael Conlan’s pro debut at Madison Square Garden – that they still turn out in their droves when one of their favorite home grown fighters are in town.
It will be Taylor’s 6th professional fight since turning in November of last year and after storming through opponents in the UK up to now, this marks the first tactical move by her promoter Eddie Hearn to expose her to the American public.
A land where a whopping 33 million estimated Irish-Americans call home nowadays.

That’s a big number, considering there’s only around 4 million people that actually live on the island of Ireland itself.
If Taylor can impress in the venue on Saturday night – the start of some very big moment across the pond could be underway.
All going well, speculation has existed then that she could make her homecoming in Ireland at the end of the year in a world title fight for what would be her first fight back in Ireland since turning professional.
Ahead of this Saturday night a stunning promo video of the Katie Taylor New York adventure has been doing the rounds – capturing the magic of the great city that is the ‘Big Apple’:
