Concern After Carl Frampton Misses Weight Ahead Of Homecoming

Carl Frampton misses weight at a shocker on the scales ahead of his homecoming fight this Saturday night in Belfast at the SSE Arena.

Carl Frampton is known for his diligence and work ethic, so it came as quite the surprise today when he missed weight in Belfast.

The man from Tiger’s Bay came in a whole pound above the featherweight limit of 126lbs for his bout against Andres Gutierrez tomorrow night at the SSE Odyssey Arena.

The bout will still go ahead, but will not be a WBC eliminator for for the Belfast native unfortunately. The fight will be shown live on Channel 5.

Frampton who had struggled in the past to make the lower super-bantamweight limit of 122lbs, made the move to featherweight last year in a bid to help the problem.

Frampton did look in excellent condition however – clearly having trained very hard for the fight. Perhaps today might have just been a slight blunder at the check weight this morning – or over night.

Gutierrez weighed in at 125.6lbs when he took to the scales.

Here is the moment Frampton missed weight today in Belfast to the surprise of many (hat tip IFL YouTube):
