Ricky Burns vs Anthony Crolla has been officially confirmed as a lightweight bout between two former world champions on October 7th.
Stylistically this one could promise fireworks between arguably two of the most liked characters in all of boxing – certainly in the UK at least.
Don’t expect it to be a battle of the nice guys when the first bell goes mind you.
Both fighters know this is a must win to get back into world title contention at potentially one last run at a world title.

Ricky Burns is Scotland’s first ever three-weight world champion and Anthony Crolla from Manchester won a world title after doctors told him he’d be lucky to walk again following an attack on his life a few years back, let alone get back into a professional boxing ring and win a world title.
So both guys know a thing or two about overcoming adversity and beating the odds – which makes this all the more intriguing as one suspects both guys will bring their absolute best.
The fight will take place in Crolla’s hometown at the Manchester Arena but it shouldn’t be too much of an advantage, Burns knows how to win on the road as he’s shown throughout his career.
