Renowned fight announcer Bruce Buffer has been spreading a lot of money in a lot of different places for Mayweather vs McGregor.
Big fights and betting tend to go hand and hand.
Punters like to make the bouts a little more interesting with a flutter on their favorite fighter to win over the years.
Then you have the high rollers like this chap who like to spend a bit more and look for more security in their bets.
In the above case on a Mayweather win by any method – which is the consensus smart money.
Famed fight announcer Bruce Buffer (brother of Michael Buffer) has gone the other way, however.
He’s bet on an upset and is backing his fellow UFC company man Conor McGregor, but is doing it over a more diverse and slightly more unique spread then you might think.
Speaking on his podcast Buffer said:
“I made these bets a while ago. I remember it came down from 20/1 to like 11/1. I got Conor McGregor at 7.5/1 (to win) and now he’s at 4.5/1.”
He added:
“I made a bet that he would knock Mayweather down at some point in the fight. That’s 5/1 – which is now 3.5/1. I bet that he would knock Mayweather out in the third, fourth or fifth round – which is 2200/1 I got. That’s a lot. If he’s going to knock him out I think it will happen in the first six rounds.”
He concluded:
“I bet a fight (market) that is not a favorite bet but I think it’s a good bet – that the fight will not go past nine rounds which is now 8.5/1. It’s gone down.”
