No you’re not seeing things, a Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux fight really is nearly over the line it has been reported. Before 2017 is out too.
A Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux fight is arguably one of the best that can be made in boxing in terms of putting two of the sweet science’s most adept technicians in the ring with one another.
Talks of a Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux fight have been murmured in the boxing world for sometime now, however most felt that it would never happen.
However, in recent days strong rumors have been circulating that it in fact could.
Thus followed recent tweets from Lomachenko himself mentioning that the Cuban boxing magician was one of the names being considered out of six potential opponents.
Well, that six has now become two it would appear – and ‘Rigo’ is in the running.
As reported by LA Times journalist Lance Pugmire – a date is also being looked at before the end of 2017 for a fight with Rigondeaux or Orlando Salido for Lomachenko:
Told by @BobArum that he’s eyeing Dec. 9 for @VasylLomachenko next fight, either in NY vs. @RigoElChacal305 or LA vs. @siri_salido.

Sweet, sweet news for fight fans hoping for a Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux fight. This is probably the closest it’s ever come to reality.
A bout with Orlando Salido would also allow for Lomachenko to wipe the one blemish this far on his pro record (9-1-7KO) suffered to the Mexican back back in 2014 via split decision.
Over to you, Bob.
