Callum Smith vs Erik Skoglund An Intriguing Clash Of Styles

Callum Smith vs Erik Skoglund represents the the latest test for the highly touted Smith’s career thus far. Will he take it or fold under pressure?

Weight, Date and Venue: Super Middleweight Division, September 16th, 2017. Echo Arena, Liverpool, United Kingdom.

Fighter records: Callum Smith (22-0 17KO) vs Erik Skoglund (26-0 12KO)

The youngest and the last Smith brother with an unblemished record faces off against Erik Skoglund of Sweden in a very close matchup that sees an interesting contrast.

Smith is looking for scalps, stopping 6 of his last 7 opponents while Skoglund has gone at least 9 rounds in his last ten bouts.

So with Smith and Skoglund respectively, we have a fighter with power against a very enduring foe and both have tremendous capabilities.

The two have great jabs, good footwork with an outstanding ability to adjust styles when needed. Skoglund has been training with Danish great Mikkel Kessler lately – who has been himself training for a comeback fight

It’s a great fight on paper and most likely going to be a fantastic technical bout between the two.

In the end, Smith’s pulverizing left hook will eventually find its way in later in the bout and leave Skoglund hurting.

We haven’t really seen the Swede’s chin checked, but I think we will this weekend along with his first loss on the same night as the mega fight between Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez.
