Former world champion Paulie Malignaggi on GGG vs Canelo being politics and why the judging went the way it did.
Former world champion turned commentator Paulie Malignaggi wasn’t working this weekend’s fight given that it was on HBO, not Showtime who he works for, but has still managed to create quite a bit of traction on Twitter with his thoughts on the fight.
A few weeks removed from the limelight of the whole Conor McGregor saga that saw Malignaggi leave the Irishman’s sparring camp ahead of the UFC fighter’s boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather, Malignaggi is back in the Twitter sphere of boxing as heavy as ever.
Speaking to one fan on why the Canelo scorecard was so wide in favor of him on one of the judges’ scorecards (118-110), Malignaggi’s simple response has gone viral in the boxing world:
Nah that was politics man. Unfortunately when a fighter generates the money Canelo does lots of people get rich so cash cow gets protected. https://t.co/moc7oOZhLv

It is not known if Malignaggi will ever return to the ring himself but it was well documented that he was angling for a boxing match with McGregor following the Irishman’s loss to Mayweather a few weeks back.
Don’t be surprised if we see it in 2018:
