The world of boxing has been struck with very sad news today as Jake LaMotta has passed away to the sadness of boxing fans around the globe.
‘The Raging Bull’ was known as one of the toughest warriors in the history of the sport.
A man who never backed down from any challenge in the ring and had famous battles with many consider the greatest fighter to ever live, ‘Sugar’ Ray Robinson.
It has been reported by TMZ that Jake LaMotta has passed away today in a nursing home following complications from pneumonia.
He is survived by his wife who told reporters today that:
“I just want people to know, he was a great, sweet, sensitive, strong, compelling man with a great sense of humour, with eyes that danced.”
A Hall of Fame fighter with a professional boxing record of 83-19-4-30KO, LaMotta reached heights that not only few ever do in the ring, but also outside of it through the iconic movie ‘Raging Bull’ – where Robert De Niro played LaMotta on the big screen and went on to capture an Oscar for the Martin Scorsese directed show.
