Valdes and Ramirez both defended their world titles successfully and Conlan impressed once again. Post-fight report.
It was a busy night of boxing in Tucson this Friday night with two world title fights on the card, as well as two notable prospects.
First up in the world title fights.
WBO featherweight champion Oscar Valdez retained his title with a unanimous points decision win over previously unbeaten Filipino Genesis Servania.
Also on the card was the lesser of the known world champions at 168lbs, WBO super-middleweight world champion Gilberto Ramirez.
He defended his belt with a unanimous points decision victory over another previously unbeaten opponent, Jessie Hart.
The two prospects that featured on the card of note were Irishman Mick Conlan and former US female Olympian Mikaela Mayer.
Mikaela Mayer closed the show in her 2nd pro fight with moments like this:

Conlan also closed the show in style in his fight, with this massive right hand doing the damage for him:

The win gave Conlan his fourth on the trot as a professional and showed the Irishman to be settling into the pro style all the time.
Clearly improving fight by fight.
All in all, a fairly solid night’s boxing in Tucson on a Friday night fight night for a change.
