An intriguing card involving Cotto vs Lemieux and Matthysse vs Broner looks to be in play in the US before the end of 2017.
Cotto vs Lemieux and Matthysse vs Broner could share a boxing event in New York on December 2nd it has been reported by ESPN in what would be a cracking card if it comes off.
Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico said earlier in the year that 2017 would be his last year in boxing, so it could very well be the last time fight fans have a chance to see the legendary boxer in the ring.
His mooted opponent David Lemieux has come back to form in 2017, recording two wins over Marcos Reyes and earlier in the year a stoppage over Curtis Stevens.
One would suspect a fight between the two would make for a great clash of styles with both men willing to go to war when necessary.
Matthysse vs Broner would also be an interesting one.
It would see American Adrien Broner go up against a big punching Argentinian once again. An experience that didn’t prove fruitful one for him in the past.
Broner recently had some outside the ring issues with an alleged assault that took place in Las Vegas as reported by TMZ, so it is not totally clear if this will be out of the way by December 2nd if this card goes ahead.
Broner’s last bout came in July when he was defeated by unanimous decision by Mikey Garcia.
