UK heavyweight and top contender Dillian Whyte reacts to the news that WBC President claims Ortiz failed a drugs test.
The boxing world has been in overdrive today following the WBC President saying on Twitter that it was confirmed to him that heavyweight title challenger Luis Ortiz from Cuba had tested positive for a banned substance as per his ‘Clean Boxing Program’ administered by VADA.
Ortiz’s team hit back at the claim from the WBC President however and have insisted that Ortiz needs the medication and is legitimately given it by a doctor due to high blood pressure.
Now Dillian Whyte has stepped into the frame, sensing that a big opportunity could be available for him should Ortiz not make his upcoming fight with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder in November.
Speaking on Twitter Whyte reacted to the news by saying:
No excuses now @Bronzebomber I will take Ortizs place lets get it made @EddieHearn @premierboxing #ALWAYSREADY

Whyte has travelled on the road to the US before, in his last fight no less when he won easily inside the stoppage. So travelling overseas has proved not to be a problem for him in the US.
Big hitting WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will be a considerable step up from his last fight though, obviously.
But an intriguing stylistic clash of heavyweight to watch given both men’s love of throwing heavyweight bombs at their adversaries.
What a fight in the making, potentially.
