Promoter Eddie Hearn on the two most likely candidates to step in to fight WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder after Luis Ortiz controversy.
The situation for Deontay Wilder vs Luis Ortiz doesn’t appear to be looking good as the days pass.
One suspects that the fight has a better chance of not happening than happening at this stage, after the WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman revealed on Twitter Ortiz failed a VADA doping test administered as part of his organization’s ‘Clean Boxing Program’.
Luiz Ortiz’s team have vigorously denied these claims however and have stated that the reason for the test result was due to blood pressure medication.
There are a host of names willing to step in to take on Wilder if Ortiz and their chance at a heavyweight world title – but for promoter Eddie Hearn it is down to two most likely candidates at this stage:
Hopefully @DillianWhyte but my guess Stiverne – it’s a mess https://t.co/q53PDqpXxJ

Hearn when questioned about the whole Wilder vs Ortiz VADA saga by Kugan Cassius of IFL TV was not impressed, mentioning:
“They’ve come out for saying it’s for blood pressure or something. You know what it doesn’t even matter if it was, you’re an idiot. What are you doing? He (Luis Ortiz) needs to go. He needs to go now as far as I’m concerned.”
UK heavyweight Dillian Whyte has previously mentioned he is more than willing to step in to take on Wilder in place of Ortiz.
