Debutant Lewis Smith has bemoaned his bad luck which has forced him to pull out of his scheduled debut on this weekend’s MTK London Show.
The 24-year-old was set to make his first proffesional outing at the Brentwood Centre on MTK London’s card.
However, the Alec Wilkey-trained fighter picked up an injury in one of his final few spars meaning his anticipated debut will be postponed.
The unfortunate news that has come at the last minute for him means he had no choice but to pull out of the contest entirely.
Speaking on the injury, he said:
“It happened in sparring, I just felt something go in my hand.“My coach and manager Alec Wilkey had a look, we had a chat and decided we needed to be 100%.“If you’re not 100% ready in this game then you shouldn’t be getting in as anything can happen.“It’s a bit of a downer but I’ve got to try and keep positive, it’s all a bit unclear with what the injury is so we need to find out more.“It looks like I’ll be back in New Year but for now it’s all about the recovery.”
The card will be shown live on Kugan Cassius and James Helder’s IFL TV YouTube channel this weekend for free for boxing fans.
