Here is the moment the Leo Santa Cruz Chris Avalos stoppage came in front of a thrilled onlooking crowd at the StubHub Center in Carson.
Leo Santa Cruz showed the world once again why he’s one of the premier warriors in the sport of boxing.
The four-weight world champion from Mexico established his jab early on and proceeded to land clean, straight shots on his opponent Chris Avalos.
Avalos might be remembered by some fight fans having boxed a former Santa Cruz opponent in two-weight world champion Carl Frampton, a fight he lost in early 2015.
Indeed, this was the first fight for Santa Cruz since exacting revenge over Frampton back in January of this year, following a defeat to the Belfast man in 2016.
That defeat will be a distant memory for Santa Cruz however now, following his 8th round TKO victory over Avalos last night which was shown on Premier Boxing Champions YouTube (hat tip):
An excellent fight overall that lived up to expectations.
What’s next for Santa Cruz?
Well, a trilogy with Carl Frampton has long been mooted and with Frampton now boxing under a new promoter and with some additional management in Europe, this could very well be on the horizon in 2018.
Where it takes place remains to be seen, though. Frampton more than likely will want it in Northern Ireland – Santa Cruz most likely wanting it in the US.
