Team Charlo and team Lubin were involved in near ringside brawl where chairs went flying after the world title fight.
The fight ended in a first round stoppage win for world champion Jermell Charlo but following the bout scenes of chaos broke out ringside between both teams.
Brother of Jermell, Jermall, alleged team Lubin through a chair at him and in the post-fight interview when asked was he okay by the commentator he intimated he was more than fine, and directed the same question of someone on team Lubin.
While it wasn’t clear what exactly caused the chaotic scenes afterwards it is perhaps reasonable to assume that the fight ending in such a conclusive fashion, so quickly like it did, could have been a contributing factor.
That – plus pre-fight trash talk one suspects.
The folks at Fight Hype YouTube (hat tip) caught the post-fight carnage on camera here. Members of security and police could be seen trying to defuse the situation:
Following the defeat Erickson Lubin’s professional boxing record moves back to 18-1-13KO, suffering the first fight of his career.
Jermell Charlo now moves on to some potentially big unification fight opportunities against the likes of fellow 154lbs champions Miguel Cotto, Jarrett Hurd or Erislandy Lara.
