Female World Champion Cecilia Braekhus got more than she bargained for at a final press conference ahead of her latest fight.

Recognised as one of the great modern female boxers of this era, and one of the best modern female athletes period, Cecilia Braekhus is the only current world champion in boxing who holds every possible version of the world title (WBC, WBA, IBF, IBO, WBO).

This weekend the 36 year old Norwegian returns to action in her home country to take on 41 year old Swedish challenger Mikaela Lauren.

The Swedish boxer took both Braekhus and onlookers by surprise in the pre-fight stare down at the final press conference with this kiss planted on the lips of the champion:

The champion looked less than rattled, laughing it off with her coach and team.

She currently holds a professional boxing record of 31-0-8KO and has broken significant ground in her home country in getting the sport recognised once again, after a period of boxing essentially been banned in Norway in the past.

It was a 33 year ban that was essentially in effect until 2016 with many crediting Braekhus for the turnaround in the Norwegian government’s stance on the sport.

The fight this Saturday will take place at the Oslofjord Convention Center in Stokke, Norway.
